Signs Your Truck Suspension Needs Repair & Maintenance

Driving on roads with potholes or rough roads increases the rate at which your truck suspension system wears out. Shocks usually have a service life of 50,000 miles before they wear out. Whenever your suspension becomes faulty, you will experience a poor-quality ride as well as strange noises. Your truck might become stiff and bouncy when speeding.

It is easy to take the truck suspension system for granted when performing regular truck maintenance and this is due to the long life span of service they offer to depend on the nature of the terrain of your regular driving. Consider servicing your suspension system for comfort, stability, and a safer ride.

The suspension system wears out with time, and you will notice it based on the quality of ride your truck will offer. Upon reading this guide, you will understand some signs that your suspension system needs repair.

Nose Dives When Stopping

When your shock absorbers are worn out, you will experience the body of your truck having a forward lurching or its nose diving whenever you firmly apply brakes. Nose diving makes it difficult to stop your truck abruptly and can expose you to accidents.

Uneven Tire Wear

Tires are the best indicators of the condition of your truck suspension system. A bad suspension system will make it hard for your tires to have uniform contact with the road, and as a result, you will notice uneven tire wear. You will realize balding spots, indicating that your suspension system is not holding your truck uniformly and exerts uneven pressure on your tires.

Oily Shocks

When checking your shocks, sometimes you will note that they are greasy or oily. When you note this, it indicates that your suspension fluid is leaking. If this happens, your suspension will not work effectively. Consider replacing your shocks as soon as they start to become oily.

Your Truck Pulls When Turning

When your suspension starts to fail, your truck will either pull or drift whenever you make a turn. When this happens, it indicates that your shocks cannot prevent the body of your truck from the centrifugal force. Pulling or drifting exposes you to the risk of rolling over. If you experience this when turning, consider checking the condition of your suspension system.

Rough Rides

The design of the truck suspension system enables it to prevent and absorb the shock from road bumps. Such a function lets you have a quality ride even on rough terrains. When driving over bumps and you start to feel each bump on the road, it indicates that your suspension system is wearing out, and you should consider replacing them.

Conclusion,

The suspension is an essential system for your truck. It protects the body and other parts from damage when driving on rough surfaces. The suspension has various parts that work jointly to offer a quality ride. It becomes faulty with time and will give prior signs before failing. The above are some common signs that will warn you to check and replace your truck’s suspension.
